THE NEPHEW of Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha has been called up for Nigeria. Arsenal youngster, Alex Iwobi, has been called up for the Super Eagles ahead of their friendlies against Congo and Cameroon in October.
The young starlet - who made an appearance on the bench in the Gunners 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One Cup - has been earmarked for a bright future. The 19-year-old was born in Nigeria and has trained with the Under-23 squad this year but has also featured for England at Under 16,17 and 18 level.
The nephew of the former Bolton midfielder spoke of his decision to play for the African nation. "My dad too has told me a lot of things about the honour and pride that goes with playing for Nigeria," he said. "So I thought a lot about this and decided to play for Nigeria."
