According to sky news one person has been killed and around 1,000 homes destroyed after a fire devastated an Indian slum.
The blaze was sparked by a quick succession of between 15 and 20 gas cylinder explosions in the Kandivali slum in Mumbai, according to officials
.
Two women had burns to 40% and 42% of their bodies, while four men sustained minor injuries, the city's chief fire officer added.
Dhananjay Kulkarni, a deputy commissioner with the Mumbai police, warned the number of dead could rise.
Witness Mihir Bijur saw the flames from a nearby building before his building was evacuated.
Once outside, he said on Twitter that the streets were "full of people from the slums running with whatever they could grab".
"There are people outside crying, helpless and clueless, saying a lot of people were burnt alive in the fire."
Ex-MP Sanjay Nirupam tweeted that 1,500 families had been made homeless by the fire and that food and shelter were being organised.
