70-Year-Old Proprietor Rapes Pupil In Lagos

The Igbogbo police division in Ikorodu area of Lagos state, has arrested a 70-year-old school proprietor,whose name is Isaac Iniasek, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old pupil in his school. This incident happened at the Brighter Glory School, located at 31, Eturenren street, in the area, New Telegraph reports. On that fateful day, Iniasek was said to have asked the little girl to tidy up his office after school hours.Only to pounce on her while she was cleaning, tore her pants and raped her. Narrating what happened, the victim’s aunt who spoke on condition of anonymity said the girl’s friend and her younger sister after waiting a while for her, decided to go look for her in the proprietor’s office to check what was keeping her. When they got there, they saw the old man on top of her and they raised an alarm which attracted other people. “ Immediately they entered the office, the proprietor ran out of his office, while the girl was bleeding from her private part ,” she said. According to the aunt, they rushed her to a private hospital where it was confirmed that she had been raped, adding that, “ They showed us the semen which was brought out from her private part .” A resident of the area, whose child attends the school claimed that it was not the first time such was happening as the proprietor had some time back inserted his finger into the private part of some girls. Reacting to the incident, the little girl’s father described the proprietor as a disgrace, saying he should be prosecuted to serve as lesson to others who may want to take after him. In his own reaction, the suspect’s son, who craved anonymity said: “ What befell my father was a strange influence. My father is married, what would he derive from sleeping with the little girl ?” When contacted on the phone, Kenneth Nwosu, the public relations officer said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation. There has been a rising case of child molestation. A few days ago, a 48-year-old father Adeboye Waheed, was arrested for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter to test if she was a virgin. About a week ago, the Nigerian Senate passed the Sexual Offences Bill 2015, which was among the 46 bills passed by the 7th Senate in a last minute flurry of activities. The bill stipulates a life imprisonment for any individual found guilty of rape or sexual intercourse with children under 11 years; 10 years for incest; 10 years for child pornography or a fine of N2 million; and 14 years for sexual abuse, among others.
