Musiliu Obanikoro Blasts Sahara Reporters, Says He's Not Scared Of Being Probed

Immediate past minister of state for defense,
Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has described the
report by Saharareporters that he is hiding from
being investigated as “a dirty campaign of
calumny and pure blackmail.”

Saharareporters had reported that the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has
received more evidence linking former junior
minister for defence Musiliu Obanikoro with the
infamous Ekitigate election scandal of June 2014
and the related plot to rig the Osun State
gubernatorial election.

In a statement signed by his media aide,
Demola Olarenwaju, the former Lagos state
commissioner also lambasted the online news
platform for involving his family in the report.

Obanikoro said he is not aware of any
investigation of him in public service and that
“the rumour from SaharaReporters would form a
part of the evidence tendered against the news
outfit and their publisher Yele Sowore in a case
he instituted at the Supreme Court of the State
of New York on the 9th of March this year.”

He equally dismissed the report that he
purchased a house in Atlanta explaining that the
house belong to one of his son.

“The house in question belongs to Obanikoro’s
second son Gbolahan and his wife. Gbolahan
Obanikoro is into private business and is said to
be doing well for himself while his wife also is
well-to-do,” he said.

Obanikoro said he is proud of his record of
service to Nigeria and “this service includes a
year as Local Government chairman of Lagos
Island, Lagos State Commissioner under former
Governor Bola Tinubu, Senator of the Federal
Republic, Nigerian Ambassador to Ghana as well
as being a Minister”.

He added that his ambition for now is to seek
further education in addition to his first and
second degrees obtained from Texas Southern
University and maintained he is currently a
student of Oglethorpe University in USA.
